Volunteers
Minds Matter is fortunate to have had more than one thousand amazing volunteers since its founding in 1991. Our volunteers are energetic, committed, and successful individuals, who dedicate their time to helping Minds Matter's students achieve their academic pursuits. More than 400 volunteers nationwide dedicate their time to help Minds Matter achieve its mission each year, making the volunteer : paid staff ratio approximately 275 : 1. Using conservative figures, the value of volunteered time is nearly $2,000,000!
Minds Matter volunteers come from diverse career backgrounds including advertising, banking, consulting, education, law, marketing, non-profit and others. Because Minds Matter has a tendency to "get in the blood" of its volunteers, many stay with the program for several years and go on to serve in leadership positions on the Executive Committee or Board of Directors; some have even gone on to start their own Chapters! Volunteering with Minds Matter is not only rewarding, but allows New York City professionals to meet new friends and business contacts. "Seeing the students flourish and grow is a huge driving force. Being viewed as a role model changes people and brings out the best in them." -- Lisa Souter, Minds Matter of Chicago Chair of the Board |
