Portland - What We Do

Minds Matter of Portland (Minds Matter) provides Portland high school students with supplemental educational opportunities. The purpose of these supplemental educational activities is to help students to attend college after graduation from high school.
 
During weekly mentoring sessions, held at Self Enhancement Inc. (SEI), Minds Matter volunteers and mentors help students improve and polish writing and speaking skills, demystify financial aid, and build confidence levels while forming lasting friendships preparing for the PSAT and SATs.
 
Minds Matter mentors are young, dedicated professionals who work with their student's two-on-one each week. Mentors guide students through the summer and college application processes, help them with their writing and test preparation assignments and accompany them on cultural field trips.
 
The Portland area is rich with many mentoring programs that serve "at risk" youth. Yet, few mentoring programs address the needs of talented students who lack the resources to realize their full potential. Minds Matter fills this need by providing a foundation of support, encouragement and academic enrichment for its students.
