Shari Ashton, Director
Ms. Ashton recently graduated from The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey after completing a three year masters program to become a physician assistant. She currently works at a large dermatology in Verona, New Jersey where she handles routine care such as skin cancer examinations, ordering laboratory tests, biopsies, cryotherapy (freezing), wound closure (stitches), and writing prescriptions. Prior to this, she spent three years in the pharmaceutical industry at Eli Lilly and Company. Ms. Ashton also has a background in accounting and spent three years practicing as a certified public accountant at Ernst & Young LLP in New York in the Financial Services Audit Practice. She holds a B.S in Accounting from Rutgers University and an M.S. from UMNDJ.
  Jeffrey Bernstein, Director
Jeffrey Bernstein, CPA, is currently a vice president and senior research analyst following the restaurant industry. Mr. Bernstein joined Lehman Brothers in February 2000 as a member of the firm's equity research restaurants team, which was ranked Runner-Up in 2001 and No. 3 in both 2002 and 2003 by Institutional Investor magazine's "All-America Research Team" survey. Mr. Bernstein launched primary coverage in early 2005 and currently covers the large cap names in the quickservice, casual dining, and specialty categories of the industry. Prior to joining Lehman Brothers, Mr. Bernstein spent four years at Ernst & Young, where he earned his CPA designation.
Jay Campbell, Director
Mr. Campbell joined the North American Healthcare Banking Group of ABN AMRO in October, 2006 from BIO-IB LLC, a boutique healthcare investment banking firm focused exclusively on the life sciences. While at BIO-IB he advised clients on buy/ sell side M&A transactions, independent valuations, and private capital raises. Prior to BIO-IB he worked as an independent consultant focusing on start-up ventures including a convertible arbitrage hedge fund and a strategic research distribution firm. Previously Mr. Campbell worked in the Equity Capital Markets Joint Venture between ABN AMRO and The Rothschild Group, was a research associate in the Domestic High Yield Research Group at Schroder & Co. Inc. and started his professional career at CrossMar, a subsidiary of Citigroup, where he worked in the Institutional Client department Mr. Campbell holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management and minor in Spanish from Bucknell University.
  Marlene Carvajal, Director
Ms. Carvajal is currently a Robert Bosch Foundation Fellow based in Germany, focused on economic development. Prior to accepting the fellowship, Ms. Carvajal was a Vice-President at Goldman Sachs in New York, where she spent a total of seven years. As a member of the Portfolio Management team, Ms. Carvajal was responsible for investment research in credit derivatives and other fixed income products. Prior to that, she held various roles including portfolio construction and eCommerce marketing and project management. Ms. Carvajal earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 2005 and holds a B.A. in Economics from Boston College.
Mike Ciolli, Director
Mr. Ciolli has 10 years of Wall Street and corporate experience. He is currently an independent consultant serving as the VP, Strategic Finance and Corporate Development of Innovation Fuels, Inc., a startup/rollup biodiesel producer, and the Chief Financial Officer of Ivy Exec, LLC, a startup online executive recruitment firm. Prior to Innovation Fuels and Ivy Exec, he was a Senior Associate with The Chesapeake Group (CGI), a buyside M&A advisory firm specializing in the IT and Business Services industries. Mr. Ciolli advised corporate and financial sponsor partners on 15+ strategic projects including five acquisitions worth 100m+. Prior to CGI, Mr. Ciolli was an Equity Research Analyst with Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ) covering the IT and Business Services industries. He authored 100+ investment recommendations and collaborated with banking teams to manage $1+ billion in public offerings. Mr. Ciolli began his career at Best Execution Comparison Service (BECS), a startup consulting firm that analyzed broker costs and performance for institutional asset managers. He received his MBA in Finance and Management and from Columbia Business School and is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma academic honor society. Mr. Ciolli also received his BA in Economics with a minor in Physics from Colgate University.
Rissa Durham, Secretary and Committee Chair
Ms. Durham serves as Executive Director of both Minds Matter, Inc. and Minds Matter of NYC, Inc. Ms. Durham earned a Bachelor’s degree in English and political science from Williams College, as well as an MA in education from Stanford University and an MBA from the Johnson School at Cornell University. While at the Johnson School, Ms. Durham participated in the Park Leadership Fellows Program and served as an admissions officer. Ms. Durham’s previous work includes serving as a high school English teacher and four years at the American Red Cross where she managed the Youth Services and AmeriCorps programs.

  Scott Hamburg, Director
Mr. Hamburg has been in the equipment leasing business for 15 years. He spent ten years with Balboa Capital, where he was in sales. He later ran the Los Angeles office for two years before moving to New York City in 1996 to open their first East Coast office. After six years in New York, Mr. Hamburg left Balboa Capital to start Equicapital, Inc., with his business partner who runs the Newport Beach, California Sales and Administrative Headquarters. Equicapital specializes in development, financing programs for the nation’s equipment manufacturers and resellers.
Diana Hyde, Director
Ms. Hyde has worked on and off for US Trust for almost 4 years. She has worked as a Relationship Manager and a Lender in the Private Banking Group. For the past 9 months, she has been working in Centralized Credit structuring and underwriting loans for high net worth individuals. Prior to this, she spent over two years at Bank of New York in their Private Banking Group. Ms. Hyde holds a B.A. in Economics from Trinity College.
Debi Lee, Vice Chair and Committee Chair
Ms. Lee has worked at American Express for almost 4 years. She has worked in the Workforce Planning Group, O rganizational Effectiveness Group and now the Diversity & Inclusion Group where she works to analyze diversity data worldwide across lines of business & geographies and creates strategies to address diversity gaps across the company. Prior to this, she worked almost 8 years in various Strategic Human Resources/Change Management roles at Deloitte & Touche Consulting, Ernst & Young Management Consulting, and Deutsche Bank. Ms. Lee holds a B.S. in Business & Marketing from Cornell University.
Stewart Lee, Director
Mr. Lee has worked at Barclays for almost seven years. He has worked in the Risk Finance Portfolio Management group where he performed various functions including analyzing the group's physical and synthetic residential portfolios and providing trade recommendations for the groups cash and synthetic transactions. For the past year and a half, he has been working in the firm's CDO/Structured Funds Group buying and managing subprime home equity bonds. Prior to this, he spent over three years at Arthur Andersen in their Structured Finance Group analyzing various types of collateral. Mr. Lee holds a B.S. in Finance and Accounting from NYU Stern.
Alexis Maffei, Director and Committee Chair
Ms. Maffei has worked at L’Oreal USA for two years. She has worked in the Marketing Group for L’Oreal Paris as a Marketing Brand Manager where she performs various functions including managing the financial, strategic, media, and sales components of her brands. Prior to this she spent three years at Lord & Taylor as a buyer. Ms. Maffei holds an MBA from Cornell’s Johnson School of Management and a B.A. in Economics and Spanish from the University of Pennsylvania.
Helise Owens, Director
Ms. Owens runs the Research and Advanced Markets training programs at JPMorgan. Prior to joining JPMorgan, Ms. Owens spent two years in the Retail Finance division at Coach, Inc. performing retail sales analysis, forecasting, and strategic planning. Ms. Owens spent the first four years of her career as an equity research analyst at Lehman Brothers covering Broadline Retail and Textile, Footwear & Apparel stocks. She holds a B.S. in Finance and a minor in Mandarin Chinese from Georgetown University.

  Catherine Simonsen, Chair of the Board
Ms. Simonsen is a member of the Structured Equity Solutions Group at Goldman Sachs where she focuses on high net worth and institutional clients. Ms. Simonsen’s primary area of expertise is in single stock risk management, structuring and implementing hedging, monetization and opportunistic strategies for clients with concentrated stock positions. In addition, she focuses on structured transactions designed to implement client investment objectives and strategies. Ms. Simonsen joined Goldman Sachs in July 2004, after graduating Phi Beta Kappa and with Honors from Stanford University where she received a B.A. in Economics and Science, Technology & Society.
Lincoln Singleton, Director and Committee Chair
Mr. Singleton joined Durham Asset Management in April 2006. Mr. Singleton has more than six years experience in alternative investments. In 2001, Mr. Singleton joined Highline Capital Management as their Marketing Director and telecom analyst. He also worked at Liberty Ermitage, a European fund of fund, as Vice President of Marketing for the Americas. From fall 1998 through spring 2001, Mr. Singleton was the Product Marketing Manager at Lucent Technologies based in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Mr. Singleton began his career in 1993 with Verizon Wireless in sales, strategic planning and product management in Los Angeles and Caracas, Venezuela. His clients included privatized and start-up telecom companies. Mr. Singleton received an M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University and a B.S. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business.
Peter Stewart, Director
Mr. Stewart is a partner at Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP where his practice focuses on private equity, venture capital, securities, mergers and acquisitions and general corporate matters. He has represented many clients operating in industries relating to technology including nanotechnology and biotechnology/life sciences, electronic media and advertising and telecommunications, among others. He has a B.S. in engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and earned his law degree at Boston University School of Law.
