Chicago - How To ApplyEach year, Minds Matter of Chicago recruits a new group of bright high school sophomores and pairs them with college-educated mentors who, over the course of the next three years, will assist them in reaching their full academic potential.Minds Matter relies on the support of local high school guidance counselors, administrators and teachers to nominate students for our program. Helping students join Minds Matter demonstrates your belief in our mission and reinforces your commitment to make a difference. We are looking for sophomores with a strong GPA (3.5+) and whose household income is approximately $25,000 or less (thus, requiring financial aid). Very often, these candidates are from immigrant families, large families and/or single parent households and are potentially the first to attend college in their family. After being nominated by their guidance counselor, students will fill out an application that includes short answers, essays, and teacher recommendations. The application will also discuss the program requirements:
