Minds Matter to Receive $1.2 Million as 100 Women in Finance U.S. Beneficiary

New York, NY – December 14, 2016 –  Minds Matter will receive $1.2 Million from fundraising efforts by 100 Women in Finance (100WF, formerly 100 Women in Hedge Funds) in 2016. 100WF is a global non-profit organization with more than 15,000 alternative management investors and professionals. Each year, 100WF selects a U.S. beneficiary for its fundraising efforts. This year, Minds Matter was honored to accept the support, participating in several fundraising initiatives that culminated in a New York Gala in November.

More than 450 industry leaders attended the 100WF New York Gala. Sandra A. Urie, CFA, Chairman Emeritus of Cambridge Associates LLC and former Vice Chair of 100WF’s Global Board, received the 100WF 2016 North American Industry Leadership Award. The Award is presented annually in recognition of exemplary professional talent, business ethics, and passion for investing that further define and advance the industry’s standards of excellence.

“100WF and its members consistently promote mentoring and education as pathways to success both in business and other endeavors, which is why we have focused our U.S. philanthropic efforts this year on Minds Matter. We are proud that the funds raised in 2016 by 100WF members will help this special organization expand its reach and connect with even more students, preparing them to be successful in college and beyond,” said Sonia Gardner, 100WF’s Global Board Chair and President, Managing Partner and Co-Founder Avenue Capital Group.

“We are thrilled to partner with 100WF to support low-income high school students in achieving their dreams of going to college,” said Ashish Shah, Co-Chair, Advisory Board, Minds Matter.

Funds raised by 100WF on behalf of Minds Matter will benefit the organization in several ways, with a significant portion being distributed to chapters to fund the enriching summer programs that Minds Matter students have the opportunity to attend following their sophomore and junior years of high school.
